Bereavement Update

Good morning brothers and sisters! There has been some question recently about the recent change that Lumen has agreed to with the contract language around bereavement time.

I have received the exact wording around the change and I wanted to share it with all of you. It will not only be posted to social media, but this will also be in a blog post on our website for you to refer to at any time.

"Amends the Article 13.1 language to provide 10 paid workdays for the following immediate and extended family members:
 Immediate and extended family members include spouse, domestic partner, father, (including step-father), mother, (including step-mother), son or daughter, (including step-children and children of a domestic partner), daughter, (including step-children and children of a domestic partner),brother, (including step-brother), sister, (including step-sister), grandchildren, miscarriage of a pregnancy by an employee or spouse of an employee, grandparents (including , step-grandparents), mother-in-law, (including parent of a Domestic Partner),or father-in-law, (including parent of a Domestic Partner), sister-in-law or , (including sister of a Domestic Partner), brother-in-law,(including brother of a Domestic Partner), son-in-law, (including son of a Domestic Partner),daughter-in-law, (including daughter of a Domestic Partner), grandmother-in-law, (including grandmother of a Domestic Partner), grandfather-in-law, (including grandfather of a Domestic Partner), aunt, uncle, or any person who lives as a part of the employee’s immediate family.
 In addition, If the employee cannot return to work at the end of the paid days of bereavement leave, the employee may take up to an additional 20 business days of unpaid leave, or code the time as vacation (if available), or Personal Day (if available).
